Suicide or suicidal attempt is an act of intentionally ending one’s life through various methods. As per WHO, suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds globally. It is a global phenomenon and has severely affected many.
How some people become so helpless that they feel ending the life which God has bestow upon them is easier than living and doing what they are supposed to do on this earth? Why they don’t try to figure out a solution? Why can’t they put a brave face and fight the circumstances? Many such questions arise in the minds of those who have always leaded a normal life but only when you talk to the suicide survivors, you can understand the gravity of the situation.
The studies and statistics reveal the shocking reality that India stands third in global suicide rate and the attempts are most common amongst youth aged between 20-39 years of age. The reasons for such attempts and thoughts are equally shocking which includes failure in relationships, drugs, bullying, financial crises, domestic violence, abuse, depression and others. Different reasons push the person towards a road with darkness and no light to be seen thus leading to depressing end to the life which is otherwise so beautiful to live.
We all have ups and downs in our lives but not everyone has the same threshold and endurance power. We all need a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold in difficult times, ears who can listen to us without passing any judgements as we are by nature emotional beings. But Alas! Not everyone is lucky to have a person whom they can rely for any kind of help. Also, there is still a stigma attached to people seeking professional help with respect to mental health.
It is the Indefinable anguish that drove these people to attempt suicide but destiny and almighty had a different plan in store for them. The day they tried to take their lives, they found their inner selves. They rose like a phoenix from the ashes and proved to the people around that we all have a purpose to live and exist on this earth.
We spoke to a few brave persons who have fought very bravely and came out of the situation with flying colours. They told us how getting out of bed was a struggle each day and how brave they were by asking for help. Their experience teaches us to be very patient and earful to the people around you. How your simple act of lending a shoulder or hearing out the person, motivates them and encourage them to live a little more each day.

“I am from a traditional Brahmin family from Delhi, born with a lot of pressure to earn money. There were many perceptions forced on me by society cruelly and blindly. That clashed with my soul. I found myself trapped. There were heartless comparisons with others and I was judged on materialistic achievements. All of this made me oversensitive.
Music was a part of my junoon, my passion, but it failed to earn money. No one could see any future in music for me. In India, if you are unique, you are criticised and pulled down. You are rarely appreciated. People thought I was a nikamma and awara who was desperate to become a hero. I was trying hard to prove myself and keep a grip on my life.
I did odd jobs and even ran an export business for some time, selling handicrafts to Germany. I was never meant to do all this. My business collapsed. In a weak moment, I jumped into Ganga in Rishikesh to take my life but a friend saved me. In that moment when I tried killing myself, I couldn’t have imagined that I would live to get a Padma Shri I award one day. After that moment, I started looking for strength in my own self. I must tell you that every soul, every life on this planet is blessed with a special talent, a special calibre. You just need to discover it patiently.
Destiny always has miracles in store. Today, I love and cherish life.
A foreigner woman once handed over a letter to me that said that she had never visited India but she experienced India through my music. An 80-year-old woman told me that her 10-month-old grandson dances, eats, sleeps to my songs. These are the most beautiful gifts I’ve ever received. I want to tell all young people that they should distance themselves from those who provoke negativity. Remember, all those who the world believes are inadequate; they are the ones who always create something extraordinary. Do not let someone’s harsh words pull you down. Live and prove them wrong.” (Sourced from HT)

“I was going through anxiety and unnecessary fear of losing everything, at this point a friend of mine introduced me to chanting and my doctor suggested me to go for yoga and meditation. Timely medical help and yoga has really helped me a lot and today I am a completely transformed personality”

“I was at the peak of my career, financially as well as at the personal level but life had different plans for me. Lost my job when there was recession globally, my wife was expecting second baby. I was at the lowest ebb of my life with no job and three mouths to feed. I was losing hope with each single rejection and was on the verge of breakdown, it is at that time my father told me to believe in almighty. He might have different plans for you. I started praying every single day and my life came to normal in sometime. All the negativity started fading away once I surrendered myself to Him.”
Don't give up.
Don't kill yourself.
Don't give in to darkness.
There is a call for you.
But it isn't easy.
The call is to get up and rise, above your situation.
The call is to walk towards the sea, while it is still closed.
Walk towards the cliff, where there is no bridge.
The call is to believe him and have faith.
If we wait to see the answers beforehand, we will never walk,.
Sometimes we need to face the storm and walk straight into it, instead of try to avoid it.
Sometimes we need to jump off the cliff, without worrying about the hands of God below that will catch us.
Sometimes we have to start flying even if we have no wings.
The question is: do we dare to trust God enough for it?
It's not always easy to live with God.
He cannot be seen with our human naked eyes.
We sometimes don't hear His voice as clearly as we want.
We have to take a step of faith.
Or call it a leap of faith.
But the result is that we will fly.
I call to you now to look away from your situation and see Him.
Look to His goodness.
Look to His faithfulness.
Look to His love.
He will guide you, through it all.
He will be with you, when you fall.
He will be with you when you soar.
Just don't give up….
